Pastors Andreas &
Kathy Fischer
Pastor Andreas's Life
Pastor Andreas Fischer was born in West Germany in 1967. After his time in high school his father afforded him the opportunity to travel as a foreign exchange student and live in Los Angeles for one year. Upon his return to Germany, he finished his college education graduating with majors in physics and english. After college he took on an apprenticeship with an international logistics company. After 3 years of studies he graduated and got state certified in international logictis, a profession he would use to return to the United States.
During his work at the logistics company he distiguished himself so that after a short time the company sent him to South Florida, in 1991, to be part of the opening of a branch office. It was there where Andreas met Jesus Christ and became deeply involved in his home church.
His Mission with Kathy: Panama
In 1994 Andreas married his wife Kathy and both knew that God had so much more for them in the ministry. In 2001 Andreas and Kathy were sent to Panama, Central America, to work as missionaries and oversee a pentecostal church conference. Both travelled extensivly in Panama and worked with many visiting church groups to build churches and instruct the exisiting churches in finance, church adminstration, organization and all other spiritual works.
Four years later Andreas received the instrutions from his home church to open a church in Panama City and later purchase a building. The church founded by Andreas also had a non-profit foundation and the young congregation immediatly began its work in the inner city in the high risk areas of the city. Andreas was a member of the Municipal Committee for Violence Prevention of the city of Panama City for 7 years and worked governemnt contracts with USAID, the US Embassy, the panamanian federal government, United Way and the Mayors office, to help children and teenagers stay in school and prevent them from joining gangs.
Panama
The church further focused on outreach with their sidewalk truck minsitry with clowns, music and puppets to reach thousands of children and families in the slum areas of the city. Medical teams were also brought in to give free general health care and perscription medicine to thousands of low income and poor citizens.
During this time a very special project began that consisted of filming and producing short films with teenagers as part of the violence prevention programs in areas the local government qualified as “red zones” or "high risk/ gang territories". The participants would write the story based on real life experiences or fictional, but all representative of what they saw, lived and experienced in their neighborhoods. After the filming and editing done by Pastor Andreas the short films would be broadcast on national TV at 8 pm after the evening news program beating all the ratings. The participants would have the opportunity to participate in live radio and TV interviews as well as in a 1 hour political show "Debate Abierto" to promote the short films and speak to the public about solutions and desires they had to bring change. After the transmission all the actors and families where invited to take part in a celebration together with the TV station and government officials to see the short films and receive awards for best actors, movie and script.
Actually
The shortfilms are on the Panama churches youtube channel ( MUVApanama1 ) with millions of views. Each year the foundation would produce 5 short films in five distinct high risk areas.
During the pandemic in 2020, all works came to an abrupt halt in Panama due to the very strict regulations, which closed the church and foundation for almost one year. During that time Pastor Andreas began to study, being impacted by all that was happening and wrote his first book, The Illusion of Choice.
